From preserved cells to living tissue.
Five stages, four programmes, and an honest account of where each one stands.
Preserve
Governed biological material with linked genomic and clinical data.
Reprogram
Donor-derived iPSC lines, characterised and banked.
Engineer
Bioreactor and scaffold conditions tuned for reproducibility.
Differentiate
Brain and liver organoids from the same genome.
Translate
Phenotyping, data integration and a route to therapy.
The stages.
Preserve
It begins with governed biological material and the genomic and clinical data linked to it. Consent, provenance and auditability are decided here, and everything downstream inherits them.
Reprogram
A donor cell is returned to a pluripotent state, then expanded, characterised and cryobanked. A finite sample becomes a renewable one, and the line becomes the unit of work.
Engineer
Bioreactor conditions, scaffolds, density and timing. This is the least glamorous stage and the one that decides whether results repeat, which is why most of the effort lives here.
Differentiate
The banked line becomes neural and hepatic tissue. Because both come from the same genome, the two pictures can be read together rather than separately.
Translate
Phenotyping, imaging and data integration, and from there a route toward therapy. Each step of that route has to be earned with evidence.

Established. In development. Horizon.
Programme status.
A characterised, cryobanked line is the input to everything else.
Standardisation and QC toward cohort-scale production.
Assay standardisation and patient-matched pairing with neural tissue.
Mechanism and phenotyping in organoid tissue.
What would need to be true.
For modelling to scale
Reproducibility at cohort level, not at demonstration level. Same protocol, same result, different operator, different month.
For pairing to matter
Enough characterised lines that a neural and a hepatic result from one genome can be set against a population rather than against nothing.
For translation to begin
A regulatory pathway walked deliberately, with GMP-grade process behind it, and evidence that survives review by people who are not us.
